CAIO Cares

CAIO Cares is a humanitarian initiative of the Colombo‑American Information Office designed to provide essential support for communities affected by crisis and displacement, beginning with those impacted by the recent fires in Pasadena. The program collects and distributes furniture, home goods, and essentials to families in need, while also creating a sustainable fundraising model by repurposing select donated items to support CAIO’s broader mission of economic development and community empowerment. Rooted in values of solidarity, sustainability, and service, CAIO Cares brings together volunteers, donors, and community partners to deliver practical relief, restore dignity, and build a stronger bridge between compassion and action.

What CAIO Cares can include over time: home goods distribution, emergency kits (bedding, toiletries, cooking items), furniture‑refurbishing workshops with volunteers, storytelling campaigns that share family recovery stories, and quarterly CAIO Cares Donation Drives.

Sagrada Mujer Foundation (Colombia)

CAIO Cares is proud to support Fundación Sagrada Mujer, a nonprofit organization in Cali, Colombia, dedicated to protecting women and children who are victims of gender‑based violence and at risk of femicide.

Through its transitional shelter “Hogar Amor y Vida” and the community project “Huerta la Esperanza,” Sagrada Mujer Foundation provides safe housing, psychological and legal support, meals, transportation, and practical tools so women can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. The organization is developing a 22 500 m² healing center on rural land in Jamundí to offer long‑term safety, recovery, and empowerment. From the United States, CAIO is raising funds, building partnerships, and collecting donations to ensure these brave women have the resources they need to thrive.
